Job description Job responsibilities Job OverviewWestern Road Surgery is looking for a Pharmacy Technician to join the Practices clinical team. As part of the team, you will be helping the pharmacists on medication audits, medication switches and being the focal point for medication queries from the administrative team. Western Road Surgery works on the Medication Optimisation Local Enhanced Service (MOLES) throughout the year, which includes the roles above. You will be helping the Practice achieve its targets in ASTRU-PU reduction in line with ICB recommendations, as well as other medicines audits. Western Road Surgery is a research practice, which involves running audits and completing improvement cycles for evidenced based practices. The Practice is made up of 6 partners, a nursing team, a large administrative team, a GP assistant and a Clinical Pharmacist. As a surgery, we are looking to build on the pharmacy team by adding another Clinical Pharmacist alongside a Pharmacy Technician.Main Responsibilities Reviewing and recording patient information with their prescription in compliance with the guidelines of the General Pharmaceutical Council Undertake patient facing and patient supporting roles, by educating patients on the correct way to take their medicines Supporting the pharmacist in the daily operations of the Practice Answering incoming tasks and phone calls for patient and staff queries, streamlining general prescription requests Carry out Medication Optimisation in line with ICB guidelines. For example antibiotic audits, quality improvement projects , contributing to the Quality & Outcomes Framework and other Enhanced Services Supporting medication reviews and medication reconciliation for new care home residents Liaise with the ICB for clinical aspects of Shared Care Protocols Supporting the practice implementation of national prescribing policies and guidance Assist with medication safety monitoring systems, for medications such as DMARDs Support the Clinical Pharmacists in Structured Medication ReviewsOther Responsibilities Keep up to date with Mandatory Traning, as set out by the Practices policies and procedures Be responsible for your own Information Governance and Data Protection, in line with the Practices policies and procedures Adhere to the Practices policies for Health and Safety, Safeguarding and Infection ControlWhy should you apply?This is an exciting opportunity to join our progressive clinical team as a Pharmacy Technician.
