Job description Job responsibilities Package Description: As a LeadWing Pharmacy Technician,you will be working as part of the HCRG Care Group Team at HMP Norwich, you will benefit from: AFC Band 6 Salary & NHS Pension Free tea, coffeeand milk at your base location Membership of My Reward Hub, giving you access to discounts on every day purchases like grocery shopping as well as cashback and voucher offers for treats for you and those special to you Access to your wages as you earn them to help cover lifes emergencies and avoid overdraft fees or high interest rates Online and face to face help with your mental and physical wellbeing from healthy recipes and activity challenges through to post trauma support, legal, debt and life management help, as well career coaching and counselling Access to eLearning, bespoke career pathways and opportunities for continuing professional development through our Outstanding learning and development team, The Learning Enterprise An open, just culture where youre encouraged to have and implement ideas which can help us deliver our purpose: changing lives through transforming health and care backed up by at least £100,000 of ringfenced innovation funding each yearThe Band 6 Lead Wing Pharmacy Technician plays a key leadership role in delivering safe, effective, and highquality medicines services to prisoners.The post holder is responsible for the efficient operational management of pharmacy services across the prison wings, supporting both the pharmacy team and wider healthcare colleagues.Working closely with the Lead Pharmacist and multidisciplinary healthcare teams, the Lead Wing Pharmacy Technician provides onsite professional support, guidance, and advice on medicinerelated issues to healthcare professionals and prisoners.A central focus of the role is to drive service improvement, support change, and actively promote medicines optimisation to ensure the safe, effective, and costefficient use of medicines within a secure environment.This is a rewarding opportunity for an experienced pharmacy technician who is passionate about leadership, service development, and improving health outcomes within prison healthcare.Main Responsibilities Lead and manage the daytoday operational delivery of wingbased pharmacy services, ensuring a safe, legal, and highquality medicines service within a secure prison environment Provide professional leadership, supervision, and development of Wing Pharmacy Technicians, including workforce planning, training, performance, and absence management Drive medicines optimisation and service improvement, supporting formulary management, costeffective prescribing, and medicines management strategies in collaboration with the Lead Pharmacist Ensure compliance with medicines legislation, prison standards, and local/national policy, including accurate Controlled Drug management and incident reporting Oversee stock management, medicines distribution, and secure transport of pharmaceuticals across the prison Support clinical activity on the wings, including medicines administration, reconciliation, prescription management, audits, and pharmacyled clinics Investigate and report medicinesrelated incidents, undertake audits, and contribute to governance, quality improvement, and risk management Deliver and support training for healthcare staff, including medicines policies, administration competencies, and safe use of homely remedies Act as a key liaison with healthcare teams, senior management, and external agencies to ensure a responsive, joinedup medicines serviceIdeal CandidateEssential BTEC or NVQ level 3 in pharmaceutical sciences or equivalent Registered with the GPhC Knowledge of legislation and good practice in relation to medicines Experience of stock control Experience of managing people in team leader or line management capacity Ability to monitor and assist in management of medication budget Experience in use of Excel to produce tables and charts Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team Experience managing pharmacy technicians and related professionals Good attendance record and willingness to participate in weekend/bank holiday rota Experience working in a prison setting as pharmacy technician desired.About the CompanyWe change lives by transforming health and care.Established in 2006, we are one of the UK's leading independent providers of community health and care services, working with health and care commissioners and communities to transform services with a focus on experience, efficiency, and improved outcomes.We deliver and transform adult and children community health services, primary care services including urgent care, sexual health, dermatology and MSK services as well as adult social care and wellbeing services.Across England, we support communities of many millions and directly help more than half a million people each year -
