Job description Job responsibilities Manage the pharmacy business to maximise its profitability in line with annual budgets and KPIs. Control costs and ensure all colleagues operate in line with business requirements and initiatives. Ensure the pharmacy complies with GPhC standards and other relevant guidance in order to provide safe pharmaceutical services where risks are minimised. Ensure all colleagues comply with operational guidance, SOPs and company policies. Ensure the pharmacy complies with the national NHS and local service contractual requirements and all other legal requirements relevant to the operation of a pharmacy. Ensure all relevant stock control principles and policies are adhered to and pro-actively drive down stock holding to ensure optimised stock levels are maintained. Forward plan and manage all business activity to ensure required actions are completed in a timely fashion and to the required standard. Embed exceptional patient and customer service as a core value within the pharmacy and ensure that all colleagues promote this core value with patients, customers and local healthcare professionals. Monitor team performance against a range of key performance indicators, including customer satisfaction (and the prompt and effective response to complaints), value for money, formulary compliance, response to incidents, errors and product alerts. Contributes to periodic reviews with the Trust Head of Pharmacy as the commissioner of services and with the Managing Director. Submits and acts upon InPhase ncidents in a constructive and timely manner Proactively manage the performance of the team, provide coaching and development to achieve excellent standards and exceptional customer care. Pro-actively ensure that all colleagues are utilising their skills and knowledge effectively to drive productivity in the pharmacy. Ensure the whole pharmacy team have a sound working knowledge of all activities associated with running a pharmacy by utilising all available training across all platforms. Protect colleagues and premises by ensuring compliance to all security policies and procedures Knowledge skills and experience required: Accreditation skills: The post holder will hold an Accuracy Checking Technician qualification for 2 years or more. Managerial Skills: Essential proven successful experience in managerial role of similar background. Capability to lead pharmacy team effectively and strategically. Confidence in leadership skills to set a positive working environment. Analytical and Judgment Skills: Ability to accurately gather, interpret, and analyse information to fulfil job responsibilities. Strong numerical analysis, critical reasoning, and effective decision-making capabilities to support administrative, procurement, and HR functions. Planning and Organisational Skills: Effective prioritisation and organisation of tasks to meet tight deadlines within a fast-paced environment. Thinks and plans ahead, continuously striving to maximise efficient working processes. Coordinating short-term activities such as meetings and procurement processes, while supporting longer-term strategic planning for pharmacy service improvement. Proactively managing own workload and supporting others in the team as needed. Governance Skills: Ability and knowledge to provide robust information governance practices within the pharmacy and team to ensure information complies with legal and regulatory compliance. Measurable Result areas: Accountability: Working within defined parameters and guidelines to ensure compliance with Trust policies and procedures. Exercising initiative to independently resolve queries and escalate issues as required. Responsibility for Policy/Service Development: Supporting the Superintendent Pharmacist and senior pharmacy staff in implementing operational improvements. Contributing to the refinement of administrative processes and supporting documentation for quality assurance and compliance. Responsibility for Information Resources: Maintaining accurate and secure databases, logs, and records in line with governance and confidentiality standards. Managing and updating HR systems, prescription archives, and procurement records to support audit readiness and regulatory compliance. Maintaining accurate records and providing detailed reports to support strategic decision-making. Management Responsibility: Providing guidance and support to team where and when required. Collaborating effectively with pharmacy leadership to achieve departmental goals. Communications and Working Relationships: Motivates self and others to excellence and continuous excellence Communicates in a timely and precise way and encourages two-way communication Demonstrates team spirit and a sense of responsibility for mutual goal Determines the direction for own team and ensures that goals and responsibilities within the team are clearly defined and monitored regularly.
