Job description Job responsibilities Key responsibilities1. Professional and clinical practice Act as Responsible Pharmacist and ensure the pharmacy operates safely and in accordance with GPhC standards, legislation, SOPs and NHS contractual requirements. Undertake clinical and accuracy checking, patient counselling, medicines advice and appropriate escalation/referral. Deliver and develop NHS and private clinical services, including Pharmacy First, New Medicine Service, hypertension services, vaccinations and other commissioned services relevant to the pharmacy. Promote safe, evidence-based, person-centred care and ensure appropriate clinical records and service documentation are maintained. Maintain professional competence and undertake appropriate CPD.2. Service development and primary care integration Take an active role in expanding the pharmacy's portfolio and uptake of clinical services. Work with Amicus Health GPs, pharmacists and other clinicians to identify opportunities for safe, joined-up pathways between general practice and community pharmacy. Develop practical referral and communication processes that improve access and continuity for patients. Use service data, local need and missed-opportunity reviews to identify priorities for development. Contribute to audits, quality improvement and new service implementation. Where appropriate, and subject to competence, training and organisational need, develop experience in primary care and advanced clinical practice.3. Team leadership and development Provide visible professional leadership to the pharmacy team and help create a positive, accountable and supportive working culture. Support effective allocation of work and skill mix so that the dispensary runs safely and efficiently and pharmacist capacity is available for clinical services. Coach, mentor and support colleagues, identifying training and competency needs. Encourage team members to identify and appropriately refer patients who may benefit from pharmacy services. Support performance conversations and contribute to recruitment, induction and development where required. Preserve and encourage effective day-to-day team problem solving while providing clear professional direction when needed.4. Operations, workflow and technology Use Titan PMR effectively and support the team to make best use of technology and standardised workflows. Review dispensing and service processes to reduce avoidable delays, duplication, and risk. Support safe stock control, ordering, returns and management of high-cost or unusual items in line with agreed processes. Ensure appropriate SOPs; governance processes and records are in place and followed. Support safe and efficient management of deliveries, monitored dosage systems, and other pharmacy workflows where applicable.5. Commercial and contractual performance Ensure eligible NHS and private services are consistently offered and correctly claimed. Support accurate month-end submissions and robust processes to minimise missed claims or avoidable loss of income. Balance commercial awareness with professional judgement and patient needs. Contribute to sensible stock, retail, and service decisions that support the long-term sustainability of the pharmacy.6. Governance and collaboration Respond appropriately to incidents, near misses, complaints, and safeguarding concerns, promoting learning and improvement. Maintain confidentiality, information governance, and data security standards. Build constructive relationships with patients, local healthcare professionals and the wider Amicus Health team. Participate in relevant meetings, training, and multidisciplinary discussions.
