Work closely with existing education and training team and clinical pharmacy teams Organization of placement timetables Writing of placement guidance and teaching materials Supervision of the students while they are on the wards Small group teaching of the students To demonstrate to the undergraduates how to translate their undergraduate learning into active prescribing in a clinical setting using their IP qualification Actively seeking out teaching opportunities for the students Designing and implementation of novel entrustable activities to develop the students skill sets Working closely with ward staff to ensure that patient experience is enhanced through interactions with the students. To lead on clinical audit and QI projects To continue to develop their clinical knowledge by working closely embedded within clinical teams Overall contribution to the operational workload within the department e.g. dispensary when the placements are not running.
As the purpose of these posts is to develop the undergraduate prescribing skills and decision making; it is desirable for the pharmacists to already have their IP qualification. Post holders will be given opportunity and encouraged to undertake appropriate qualifications in medical education such as PGCert. Post holders will not be required to contribute to the on call rota; but, in order to maintain clinical pharmacy skills, will need to contribute to the extended hours service through weekend and late night rotas. The undergraduate placements take place all day on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and post holders will be required to work these days. Post holders will need to manage annual leave around term dates and avoid taking annual leave during term time. The placements start in October 2026. Term Dates (20262027)

As a department we are supportive of flexible working and would welcome a discussion about this with any potential applicants. We have an embedded culture of 9 day fortnights in many of our clinical roles. The days and term dates of the placements are fixed and any decisions around flexible working would be based around these.
